On this Wednesday of the 4th week of Lent, I’d like to share a video of radiantly smiling Vicka, one of the reported visionaries of Medjugorje, talking to pilgrims about fasting.
Here are notes from the video:
“Our Lady, when she speaks about fasting and recommends to us to fast twice a week on bread and water, she also added that all those who are sick do not have to fast on bread and water. On those days, they can give up something that is most dear to them.
For those people who are healthy and say they cannot fast on bread and water because they have problems with a headache or with various other problems, Our Lady says if you fast out of love for God or for her it will not be difficult. The only thing that’s missing is their strong will to do it.”
Today, we pray for ourselves and for each other — asking for greater love and stronger wills to respond to Our Mother’s call to fast this day
for all those who do not yet know the love of God,
for the sick and the dying,
for young people,
for the suffering innocents,
for our priests,
for our Pope and our Holy Church,
and for all Jesus and Mary’s intentions to be realized
and for their Triumph to come soon —
remembering that we are in a spiritual battle and that certain demons cannot be cast out except by prayer and fasting. This we pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
